Opening spread summary:
"The Quests and I are lethally entwined. Dr. Quest and Race Bannon were responsible for my paralysis. For my years in the asylum. Then Jonny, Jessie and Hadji facilitated my escape into the virtual reality - the freedom - of QuestWorld. They had no choice. It was either that or lose their fathers.
"But now the entire Quest clan is sworn to track me down. To banish me from QuestWorld and return me to the asylum. And the Quests are formidable adversaries:
Jonny. Older, stronger and more capable than you remember him. Cooler, too. He may be a kid but he never backs down. Never knows when to give in. And when he's working with Hadji and Jessie, he's tough opposition.
Hadji. A mystic. Probably as smart as Dr. Quest himself, Hadji can access the parallel universes of QuestWorld simply through the power of his mind.
Jessie. Race Bannon's daughter. Intelligent, resourceful and athletic, she'll match Jonny step for step. What else would you expect from Race's daughter?
Bandit. I swear I'd exterminate that smart, irritating little dog if I could just lure him into QuestWorld. As for Dr. Quest and Race Bannon, I'd give everything I have in this world to see them suffer the way they made me suffer.
"The Quests may have invented QuestWorld but it's my playground now. And any time they log on, the game gets real. It's life or death. My life. Their death. Because without QuestWorld, I'm nothing - and I'll never go back to that asylum again. Never. I'd rather not live. So you see I have nothing to lose."
Jeremiah Surd
Month | Depicted | Summary |
---|---|---|
January | Jonny, Hadji, elephant | "Hadji and I were watching the Serengeti sunrise, a dawn like no other on Earth. It's not just the colors, it's the awakening of an enchanted world entirely different from home. Suddenly, an old bull elephant appeared through the ground mist. He looked me directly in the eye and I had an overpowering feeling that I had to follow him, wherever he was headed. But first we had to get out of his way!" Jonny Quest. |
February | Hadji | "As if being attacked by a monstrous squid were not enough, now Jonny and I have been kidnapped by an insane submarine captain. To remain alive, sometimes one must play dead - so I am using my yogin powers to still my heartbeat. Will feigning death save us, or will it be no more than a pre-monition of reality?" Hadji |
March | Questworld | "All systems go. Countdown to Quest-World: 5-4-3-2-1 Going Hot! We cross over into the virtual reality of Quest-World, where existence is reduced to sensations created by computer circuitry and light technology. Where the weak can become powerful. Where the strong become dangerous." Jonny Quest |
April | Dr. Quest | "I was in Washington, D.C., Investigating mysterious signals from Deep Space. It was my educated guess that an extra-terrestrial civilization was threatening us. But why? Our only hope was to use our QuestWorld systems to communicate with the aliens ... " Dr. Benton Quest |
May | Race in deep diving suit | "The fog was thick enough to choke a sea snake. And the sea was colder than a banker's heart. But Jonny, Hadji and I were diving on a historic find: the wreck of an 18th century pirate ship. They said it was haunted but I didn't believe that. Not until I heard the voice of Black Jack Lee and felt his cutlass slice through my air line." Race Bannon |
June | Ezekiel Rage | "I was an American Agent abroad on a covert operation. I was speeding down an impossible dirt road, my wife and daughter at my side. I radioed for back-up but I'd become a political liability. The car blew up, turning my family into a memory. Now the world must pay for my pain. So I have sworn it - In the Book Of Rage." Ezekiel Rage |
July | Jessie in Questworld | "QuestWorld is freedom. A gateway to fantasy. Problem is, freedom is a two way street: you're free to act for good or for evil - and Jeremiah Surd lives for evil. Since Jonny, Hadji and I were the ones who accidentally released Surd into QuestWorld, it's up to us to stop him." Jessie Bannon |
August | Jonny | "What would happen if a madman discovered a synthetic molecule which could destroy the Earth's ozone layer? We were about to find out. Ezekiel Rage had hijacked a space shuttle to distribute the lethal chemical throughout the upper atmosphere. Only Race stood between Rage and the destruction of civilization as we know it." Jonny Quest |
September | Jonny | (no summary) |
October | Jeremiah Surd | "They say I'm evil. I say I'm a genius. Once, I was the world's leading expert on biochemical warfare. I should have been an American hero but instead they shot me in the spine. In the real world, I'm physically helpless. But the virtual reality of OuestWorld frees me, mind, body and soul. And if they insist that I'm insane and dangerous, who am I to disappoint them?" Jeremiah Surd |
November | Bandit and Jonny | "They told me my dad had been buried in an avalanche, high in the Himalayas. But I know my dad and I didn't believe them. Khumbu Monastery was the last place he had been seen alive, so that's where Bandit and I were headed - and I wasn't about to rest until I knew the truth." Jonny Quest |
December | Jonny | The year of Jonny Quest is just getting started. The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest have been set loose upon the world. There's no turning back now. |
