The Sea Slug is a deep-water submersible launched from the Questor.
Overview[]
The Sea Slug is a small submersible that can hold three people. It's launched from the ship the Questor. The Sea Slug has some independent controls for maneuverability, but it's required heating system is operated aboard the Questor. In deep waters, the cold temperature can cause a person to die of hypothermia without the hot water supply.
The Sea Slug can manually surface in an emergency.
History[]
While exploring the wreck of the Ivory Web, Hadji, Jonny, and Race descend in the Sea Slug while Dr. Quest and Jessie Bannon remain topside aboard the Questor.
Hadji stays in the Sea Slug to operate it while Race and Jonny go out in deep-dive suits to explore the wreckage. When the Questor is attacked and they lose their hot water supply, Race and Jonny hurry back to the Sea Slug. Hadji helps pull them aboard, and is able to get them back to the surface.
After the Questor is repaired, Hadji, Jonny, and Jessie return to the Ivory Web wreckage site in the Sea Slug to continue exploring.[1]
The Sea Slug is again used when Dr. Quest looks for the wreck of the Mary Celeste with Max Schumaker, while Hadji remains topside aboard the Questor. Shortly after finding the wreckage, Max apparently has a sudden regression to a past life and tries to open the Sea Slug while still submerged, forcing Dr. Quest to stop him and resurface.[2]
