- This page is for the character in The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. For other uses, see Race Bannon (disambiguation).
Roger T. "Race" Bannon is in charge of personal security for the Quest Team. He is a special agent, bodyguard, and pilot formerly with Intelligence One.
Race's history and role are generally the same as his original continuity character, but he has a daughter, Jessie Bannon, and an ex-wife, Estella Velasquez. Race is also no longer with Intelligence One,[3] seemingly employed directly by Dr. Quest, although he occasionally gets pulled back into Agency business.
Physical appearance[]
Race has platinum blond hair in a buzzcut, blue eyes, and fair skin. He in his late thirties or early forties (see notes). He typically wears a red shirt.
Race has an athletic muscular build; he's about 6' 2" or 6' 3", and 210-220 lbs.[4][5]
Personality[]
Race is fearless and utterly dependable. He would do anything to protect Dr. Quest, Jonny, Hadji, and Jessie.
Race is known for his charming wit. He uses a number of quirky sayings (especially in season 1), and he'll make dry quips in the middle of serious fight.
He cares for his daughter Jessie, and he affectionately calls her "ponchita" (Spanish for "sweet girl"), "sweetheart", and similar.
Race is an expert in fighting, including weaponry and hand-to-hand combat such as judo.
History[]
In 1978, Race was part of a mission that apprehended Dr. Jeremiah Surd, and resulted in Surd being shot and becoming paralyzed.[6] Race thought Surd had died, but he was actually transferred to an institution for the insane.
At some point he married Estella Velasquez,[7] and in the early 1980s they had a daughter, Jessie Bannon.[8]
Following the death of Rachel Quest, Race was assigned by the government to protect Dr. Quest's son, Jonny.
