The Questor, alternatively the Quester Catamaran, is a state-of-the-art catamaran, a multi-hulled watercraft featuring two parallel hulls of equal size. Dr. Benton Quest uses it when doing work at sea.
Overview[]
The Questor is a watercraft that Dr. Quest commonly uses for research at sea. It's about 120 feet long, 30 feet high, and weighs about 2 tons.
Areas of the vessel include:
- Marine lab
- Saloon
- Kitchen
- Exercise area
- Control Center/Bridge
Several vehicles are stored in the hold of the Questor that can be launched as needed, including:
- Sea Slug, a diving bell
- Porpoise, a mini-sub
- Whaler, a 20-foot Boston Whaler motorboat
- The Quest Mini-Chopper
- Quest Tech Jetski
- Small Sailing Catamaran
- The Belle of the Deep, a deep-sea diving bell appearing only in the book The Demon of the Deep, possibly a precursor to the Sea Slug
The Questor is described in the official writer's bible:
A state-of-art cat some 120 ft in length, The Quester is a go- anywhere vessel with enormous accommodation in its two hulls - including a marine lab and a saloon, both of which are enclosed in huge reinforced plexy canopies.
The Quester's bridge deck is equipped with every navigation and communications system a world-girdling sailor could desire.
The Quester has two helms. One is open (like a flying bridge) equipped with a large steel "Destroyer Wheel" (helm), engine control units, compasses and "repeaters" - instruments which repeat the displays generated by the navigation systems in the Control Center beneath the Flying Bridge.
The Control Center/Bridge is as comprehensively equipped as any combination yacht, survey-, dive vessel. In addition to a second Destroyer Wheel and engine controls, it has complete navigation systems and instruments, state-of-the-art world-ranging communications systems, ocean floor mapping facilities, and so on. Instruments and displays include: Radar, SatNav, Loran, Wind Direction, Wind Speed, Ship's Heading, Course, Course Made Good, Speed Over Ground, Etc.
The Quester's two hulls extend perhaps four feet beneath the surface, the bottom of the huge expanse of her bridge deck some eight feet above the surface.
The Questor described in the book The Pirates of Cyber Island:
The Quester catamaran was a state-of-the-art ship that could go anywhere. It had enormous space inside, containing a marine lab and an exercise area, and was equipped with every navigation and communications system a world-traveling sailor could possibly desire. Such was the state of its technology that, if necessary, one person would run it solo, handling the sails, keel, and engines, and navigating at the same time.
Description of the Questor from its trading card:
This state-of-the-art catamaran, The Quester, has enormous accommodations in its two hulls, including a marine lab and a saloon, both of which are enclosed in huge reinforced canopies. The Quester's bridge deck is comprehensively equipped with world-ranging communications systems, ocean floor mapping facilities and more. Instruments and displays include Radar, SatNav, and Wind Speed.

History[]
The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest TV series[]
The Quest team take the Questor to Bermuda to investigate the apparent appearance of the ghost of pirate Black Jack Lee. At the coordinates, they launch the Sea Slug with Hadji, Jonny, and Race on board, while Dr. Quest and Jessie Bannon stay topside. During the procedure, a strange fog rolls in and the Questor is attacked, the electronics sabotaged, and Dr. Quest and Jessie are taken captive. Hadji, Jonny, and Race are able to make it topside, and they find the Questor abandoned. Jonny takes an outboard motorboat, launched from one of the Questor's two hulls, to go look for help.[1]
Dr. Quest and Hadji take the Questor out again while looking into the events of The Mary Celeste with Max Schumaker. After the sabotage during its previous use, the Questor has some stylistic redesigns. During the investigation, Hadji calls in Race and Jonny because the situation is getting weird, but when they arrive, the Questor is abandoned. A psychic investigator offers them his assistance, and they go aboard the Questor to have a seance; the man apparently channels the ghost of Dr. Quest to tell them to stop investigating, and Race locks him up, suspecting he's behind their disappearance. The man escapes aboard a motorboat, and Race and Jonny take a jet ski from the Questor to pursue him.[2]
The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest book series[]
The Quest team takes the Questor out when it uses The Belle of the Deep, a deep-sea diving bell.[3]
Race, Jessie, and Bandit use the Questor to follow the Dawkins freighter ship to monitor pirate activity.[4]

The Questor is used to retrieve one of the alien artifacts that fell in the Bermuda triangle.
