At a young age, this show set the standard for me for what an animated adventure show could be. I loved Doug Wildey's JONNY QUEST and never missed an episode.
Jonny Quest. The best action adventure show of my youth. My second Reel, too. Kinda fun to make.
Happy Birthday Quinton Flynn!
A friend and a brilliant voice talent on two shows I directed: Quinton is Jonny Quest on Real Adventures of Jonny Quest & Johnny Storm/Human Torch on the Fantastic Four Season Two.
🎂Let the libations flow, Q!🍻
My favorite prime-time cartoon show, when I was just a wee lad. Great artwork! Epic musical intro by Hoyt Curtin! Loved this show.

I wanted to be Jonny Quest when I was in school! JQ was one of the reasons I got into animation. Not only did both kids have exciting adventures, fly in jetpacks, ride hydrofoil speed boats, they NEVER went to school. It was like an infinite summer vacation! A young kid's dream!

I had two absolute favorites for Saturday Mornings: Space Ghost & Herculoids. JQ was prime time. Astro Boy was after school.

I grew up with and was inspired by the 60s Jonny Quest in my youth. JQ by Doug Wildey was awesome. When I directed the new JQ in the late 90s, I made sure to respect and build upon what he had created.

Interview quotes[]

The Fan Club: "What is your favorite project or cartoon that you have worked on?"
Larry Houston: "I'd say it's between the X-Men and also I did Jonny Quest with Hanna-Barbera. ... On those two series, I had the least amount of adult supervision on, where I could do the shows my way instead of their way. ... With the X-Men shows and the Jonny Quest show, the writers and myself as the director, we weren't segregated, we actually interacted with each other, we talked to each other. So I knew what they wanted to do and they knew what I wanted to try to do, and we were on the same page. It really works well when you do that."
