Korbay

Korbay was a phony witch doctor on the Caribbean island of Tanago.

Physical appearance

He has dark skin and black eyes. He's bald and has native body paint on his face and around his eyes. He wears a black headband and gold necklace, and is mostly naked, save for a blue wraparound on his lower extremities.

Personality

He is every bit as cunning and ruthless as his employer, Harden. He's also able to trick everyone except for Dr. Quest into thinking he's a genuine witch doctor. Even after he's defeated and captured by Race and the boys, he remains loyal to Harden, warning the three that Harden will kill them.

History

Season one

Long regarded as a worthless man, he began terrorizing the plantation owners on Tanago Island by pretending to be a witch doctor. He scared all of them away, except for Phillipe Lore. He drugged Lore's daughter, Denise, and foreman, Alvero, and left Suga dolls of them as a warning. Knowing that Dr. Quest intended to prepare an antidote, he went to personally deal with him. Although he failed to drug Benton, he did leave a Suga doll of him, which led Dr. Quest to believe they were getting in someone's way. Once Alvero and Denise were cured by the antidote, Dr. Quest took Alvero with him to Korbay's lair, where they confronted him about his phony voodoo, and Alvero even threatened to come back and shoot him dead. After they left, Korbay contacted his boss, Harden, who told him to send for the workers, while he went to deal with Dr. Quest. Harden also ordered him to come down and guard Race, whom he'd captured. Race found out that Korbay played the voodoo drums every night just to prevent people from hearing the work crew's jackhammers, and wouldn't find out Harden was being paid big bucks to build a secret sub base. Jonny and Hadji entered the sub base, and knocked Korbay out when he discovered their intrusion. Then they freed Race, and the trio escaped in one of the subs, taking Korbay with them. Despite Korbay's warning that Harden would kill them, Race fired torpedoes from the sub, and set off explosions that destroyed the unfinished base. Harden himself was knocked out by Alvero, and both he and Korbay were taken into custody offscreen. Presumably, both villains received life sentences for their crimes, since Dr. Quest told Philliippe their fate would be decided by the island's government.
