Premise[]

Official synopsis for Jonny Quest #2 from Dynamite:

Stranded in a most unexpected way, Jonny and the gang trek to the other side of the world in hopes of gaining the help of a longtime ally - but there's no guarantee that familiar allegiances are still in effect in their strange new situation. Meanwhile, a classic adversary launches another terrifying assault aimed at ensuring that Jonny, Hadji, Race, Dr. Quest, and Bandit never make it back home!

Plot summary[]

Dr. Zin's men receive a signal that one of their drones wasn't completely destroyed, and Zin orders them to prepare for a covert ground assault.

On Palm Key, Jonathan informs the team that it's the year 2024, and he takes them to an underground section of the compound with a massively upgraded UNIC computer. They diagnose the problem with Dr. Quest's Quantum Counter, and the parts they need can be acquired in Japan at the company Fukunaga Limited. Dr. Quest asks about the drone swam, and Jonathan tells them that Dr. Zin is behind it.

Dr. Zin's drone begins 3D printing a swam of robotic spiders. Meanwhile, Jonny and Hadji settle down in a room for the night. The robot spiders enter their room, and Bandit alerts them of the attack. The boys run from the room, and Jonathan neutralizes the swarm. Instead of staying and risk another attack, they decide to leave at first light.

The next morning, Jonathan reveals an upgraded Dragonfly, which Race flies. On the way to Japan, Jonathan has them stop in Kolkata, India. They go to the last address Jonathan had for Hadji. The older Hadji attacks them, initially not believing what he sees. When he learns of the situation with time travel, the older Hadji refuses to help them, saying his loyalties are to India. Jonny almost intervenes, but younger Hadji stops him, saying there's a history that they don't understand. The Quest Team leaves without the older Hadji, and continue to Japan.

Dr. Zin's team continues to monitor the Quest Team, and Zin orders that they alert his operative in Japan.
