The hoverboard is a gravity-defying device created by Dr. Benton Quest for his sons Jonny and Hadji. It is similar to a skateboard, but without wheels, and can go notably higher above the ground.

Jonny's Golden Quest[]
When Jonny and Dr. Quest are fighting over Rachel's death, Hadji comes over riding a hoverboard and carrying an extra. Bandit rides on Hadji's hoverboard with him. Hadji gives the second hoverboard to Jonny, who races to town with Hadji and Bandit following. In town, Jonny runs into some skeleton decorations and is so startled that he falls off his hoverboard. Hadji lands next to him and helps him up. They're distracted when they see a red-headed girl struggling with attackers. They help her, abandoning their hoverboards.
