male narrator: "Jonny Quest,"
: brought to you by..
: [instrumental music]
: [instrumental music]
: If the wind holds off, we may have time to finish our game.
: Your move, Race.
: Doctor, I think you've got me cornered.
: Looks like I've got you cornered too, Hadji.
: I don't think so.
: Hey, I didn't see that.
: But I did.
Jonny: Oh, boy, I think I'll pay Bandit next.
: Maybe I can win one game.
: [snoring]
: [dripping]
: [intense music]
: [sniffing]
: [barking]
: That smells like smoke.
: It sure does.
: Johnny, Hadji, up on deck!
Jonny: We're up here, dad.
: I also smell fire.
: You boys look aft.
: Dr. Quest, take the port side.
: I'll check the galley.
: Too late, Race, these extinguishers won't do any good now.
: I'm afraid you're right.
: We won't have time for the lifeboats.
: Everybody into life jackets.
: [barking]
Jonny: You too, Bandit.
: Alright, boys, in you go!
: Swim as far away from the boat as you can!
: All set, doctor?
: After you, Race.
: I'll miss you, ol' friend.
: [fire crackling]
: [intense music]
: She'll go any second now.
: [explosions]
: How about the boys?
: Where are they?
: I'm sure they're okay, doctor.
: [barking]
: That was Bandit. Jonny! Hadji!
: Over here!
: Try to save your energy, sir.
: [Bandit barking]
: Let's swim in the direction of that barking.
: I pray they'll be alright.
: They will be, doctor.
: They've got good heads on their shoulders.
: What could have happened to the boys?
: I can't understand it.
: They probably tried to find us and went in the wrong direction.
: Luckily, the sea is calm.
: Look!
Race: Over here! Over here!
: [instrumental music]
: We're in luck, doctor.
: They see us.
: I hope they've picked up the boys.
: We'll go about to pick you up!
: [speaking in foreign language]
: Dr. Quest, our ship's radio is broadcasting the SOS.
: Within the hour, every ship in the area will be on the lookout for your boys.
: Thank you, captain.
: We will also cruise the islands.
: They may have drifted ashore.
: Lucky for us, we found this island.
: I just hope dad and Race are okay.
: Do not worry, I am sure they're safe.
: Where's Bandit?
: Over there, resting.
Hadji: He is tired from all the swimming.
: [snoring]
: [instrumental music]
: [whimpering]
: Hey, freshly hatched turtles!
: And look, they go straight for the ocean.
: [Jonny and Hadji laughing]
: The baby turtles think Bandit's their mother.
: [barking]
Hadji: Hey, that's no way for a mother to act.
: [laughing]
: It doesn't look like much, but it's better than nothing.
: It needs a head. Every smart scarecrow needs a head.
: That's the first one that ever had a coconut head.
: Boy, he's sure homely.
: We want him to attract attention not to win a beauty prize.
: There, how about this jacket?
: Very good.
: Now, he looks better fed.
: [barking]
: I don't blame you, Bandit.
: It's pretty scary looking.
: I don't know.
: I think he has a kind face.
: Well, if dad and Race ever hit this part of shore they'll know we're around.
Hadji: We hope.
: Say, I'm hungry.
: So am I.
: [barking]
: And so is Bandit.
: There's nothing new about that.
: Come on, let's do a little exploring.
: Maybe we can find something to eat.
Hadji: That is a good idea.
: [barking]
: [instrumental music]
: No sign, Dr. Quest.
: We must keep searching.
: Don't worry, doctor, we'll find them.
: Hey, Hadji, you ever have a feeling somebody was staring over your shoulder at you?
: Not lately, why?
: I have it now.
: You're imagining, Jonny.
: Maybe, but, do you hear anything?
: No, Jonny.
: I don't hear a thing.
: I can't help feeling we've got company.
: [bird screeching]
: Your imagination has feathers.
: Yeah, and I have goosebumps.
: Hadji!
: You know that imagination of mine?
: Yes.
: Well, we're looking at some of it right now.
: [intense music]
: Uh, hi.
: I do not think they speak our language.
: [apes whooping]
Jonny: No, I don't think I speak their language either.
: You think that is a friendly sound?
: Hey, you've got me.
: No, they've got you and me surrounded.
: [whooping continues]
: Who? Me, Jonny.
: Him, Hadji.
: Remind me to laugh if we get out of this in one piece.
: [growling]
: [whimpering]
: Hey, let go! Cut it out!
: Come on, let me lose.
: It's okay, Bandit, just close your eyes.
: I just hope none of these guys have butterfingers.
Hadji: Hold on tight, my friends.
: Hey, you okay, Hadj?
: I-I guess so.
: How about you, Jonny?
: Uh-huh.
: [barking]
: And Bandit's alright.
: Wow! It looks like a mile straight down.
: What happened to our ape friends?
: Where did they go?
: I don't know.
: Maybe it was time for their coffee break or something.
Dr. Quest: I certainly can't expect you to search all day, captain.
: You have your ship's cargo to think about.
: I too am a father, Dr. Quest.
: We will search a while longer and continue to broadcast the SOS.
: Anything on the shortwave, Chopper?
: Like what, mate?
: Information as to the whereabouts of the blooming heard of elephants just waiting for us to come and take their ivory.
: Nah, stow it!
: Is it my fault we ain't seen hide nor hair of the beasties for the past six weeks?
: Well, ain't mine, neither.
: We should have stuck to runnin' guns like how I wanted.
: Eh, we make more out of our first stack of tusks than we ever made runnin guns and you know it.
: Well, I don't know.
: But at least, we'd never run out of guns as long as we have elephants.
man on radio: We repeat, anyone having knowledge of the whereabouts of Dr. Quest's son, Jonny and his companion, Hadji.
: That's H-A-D-J-I.
: Communicate with your district authorities.
: Dr. Quest is offering a reward.
: Reward!
: Eh.
: That's an horse of a different color.
: Yes, green.
: [laughing]
man on radio: The boys wearing life jackets may have drifted ashore and..
Silky: Eh, the ruddy brats just might mean money to us, Chopper.
: How much reward do you think he's offering?
: Who knows?
: I got me mind on something besides the reward.
: Like what?
: Come on, what's on your mind?
: Uh-uh, what's always on it.
: Money, chum!
: Pounds, shillings and pence.
: Come on, let's see if that little lost sheep might have washed up ashore yet.
: [both laughing]
: How much longer are we going to stay here?
: I just wanted to be sure our treetop friends were gone.
: Come on, let's go.
: [barking]
: Hey, why do you suppose those apes went off and left us?
: No, they got bored.
: Monkeys don't stick with any one thing very long.
: Jonny? Look below.
: Yeah?
Hadji: There's a couple that seem to be sticking.
Jonny: Hold it, Hadji, maybe we can swing past them.
: [apes whooping]
: We made it. Now to sneak away through the bushes.
: [barking]
Hadji: No noise, Bandit.
: Over here, Hadji, I found a log.
: Maybe we can drift down river on it.
: Ah, this is one place those apes can't follow us.
: Jonny, look!
: What's the ma..
: [whooping]
: Don't you guys ever change your punch line?
: Hey!
: Cut it out, you big ape!
: Jonny, I cannot hold on!
: Neither can I!
: [instrumental music]
: Well, here we are again.
: Maybe they think we like climbing trees.
: Yeah, but not this high.
: [whooping]
: [apes whooping]
: They've gone again.
: Yeah, probably to a lodge meeting.
: And now is our chance.
: Hey, this isn't bad.
: I too am getting to like it.
: Hadji, they're pulling us up!
: Don't fight it, Jonny, they love us.
: Yeah? Might as well join the party.
: [imitating apes]
: [howling]
: Dr. Quest, I regret--
: I understand, captain.
: I can't expect anymore of your time.
: Doctor, take a look.
: You see anything over there on that island?
: I see something.
: It looks like a dummy or a scarecrow.
: Here, you take a look, Race.
Race: Doctor, that's one of our life jackets.
: The boys must have left it as a marker for us.
: [speaking in foreign language]
: We will go ashore, Dr. Quest.
: We had good luck, after all. Yeah?
Dr. Quest: Thanks to you, captain.
: You have sufficient arms and supplies a first-aid kit and a transmitter.
: I will notify the authorities in Nuum Feiti.
: They will send a boat.
: Good luck!
: Thanks again, captain.
: Well, Race, which way?
: Well, if these tracks mean anything..
: ...they lead straight into the jungle.
: That's the boys, alright, still doing things the hard way.
Chopper: Oh, let's give up, mate.
: How much longer are we gonna hunt for them bloomin brats?
: Till we find them.
: Like a ruddy needle in a hay stack more likely.
: I'm beat, you find 'em.
: You claim the reward.
: I'll give you my half willingly.
: Shut up!
: What is it?
: Thought I heard something.
: [boys laughing]
: There it is again.
: [boys laughing]
: I'm a ruddy blinkin' ostrich if that ain't kids laughing.
: Come on.
: I'm with you, guv'nor.
: Over here!
: [boys laughing]
: [instrumental music]
: Hey, that looks easy!
: Maybe for them.
: Us too, Hadji.
: All you gotta do is swing across and then back.
: You show me.
: Okay, here goes.
: Oops!
: [Bandit barking]
Hadji: Bandit says, "You made a monkey of yourself."
: Yeah, but those guys were born to it.
: Guys? They're monkeys.
: Shh, you know it and I know it, but they don't know it.
: [laughing]
: That's them, alright.
: Let's go.
: Quiet, you'll never learn to use your bloomin' head, will you?
: You wanna rile them apes?
: They can tear us apart, limb from limb.
: We got to sneak up on 'em.
: Maybe we ought to just claim the reward.
: Chicken feed.
: That Dr. Quest'll pay a fortune to get 'em back in one piece.
: Ransom, Chopper, that's the ticket.
: Ransom money.
: Silky, oh, you're a smart one, you are.
: [whooping]
: [Hadji laughing]
: [grunting]
: thud Uh, what hit me?
: What hit me?
: Must've been a ruddy cyclone.
Jonny: What's all the activity?
: These monkeys are swinging all over the place.
Hadji: I don't know, Jonny.
: Maybe it's some kind of game they're playing.
: splash
: [whooping]
: Smart alec, dumb ape.
: Don't shoot till I give the word, see?
: I've got you, I've got you.
: This is the life, huh, Jonny?
: Yeah, it's gonna be a shame to leave it and go home.
: If they ever find us.
: Oh, they will.
: It is a big jungle.
Hadji: Maybe they never saw our scarecrow.
: Alright? Now!
: [guns firing]
: [whooping]
: Take cover, Hadji!
: That's it, mate.
: Over their heads.
: [apes whooping]
: Rifle shots, Race, from that direction.
: Might be a signal, doctor.
: [gun firing]
: Let's go!
: Hear that?
: Could be a rescue party.
: We better hurry.
: After 'em, fast!
: I wonder who is doing all the shooting.
: Just us, little chum.
: Run, Hadji!
: Chopper, don't let him get away!
: I've got one of them, Silky.
: Argh, w-where am I?
Chopper: The World's Fair, chum, and I'm your ruddy guide.
: Now, on your feet.
: Might as well come out of hiding, boy!
: We got your chum.
: Won't do you no good to hide, we'll find you.
: I'll give you three to come out or we'll start playin' rough with your little playmate here.
: [grunting]
: Very clever, laddie.
: Now, tell your chum to come out or I'll get Chopper there to take care of you.
: It'll be a pleasure.
Hadji: Do not hurt him.
: I will come out.
: I will not run away.
: What do we do with the brats, Silky?
: Take 'em to the cave.
: Then we'll start checkin on the shortwave.
: Alright, come on, get movin'.
: Judo me, will ya?
: Anthropoid tracks, alright, Race but not much of a clue to the boys.
: Hold it. Look at this.
Dr. Quest: That's Jonny's footprint, alright.
: Thank heaven, he's alive!
: Let's hope Hadji's with him.
: We'll find them, let's hurry.
Silky: Hold it!
: Hold it right there and drop the ol' blunderbusses.
: We better do as he says, Race.
: Now, your belts and hardware.
: Now, who might you two be?
: I am Dr. Benton Quest and this is Race Bannon.
: You the bloke what lost a couple of brats?
: Yes, you've seen them?
: I might have.
: How much is it worth to you?
: If you've heard the shortwave you know Dr. Quest is offering a reward.
: Reward?
: [laughing]
: Don't make me laugh out loud, chum.
: How much is it worth to the ruddy doctor to see his kid in one piece.
: Why, you--
: Go ahead, chum.
: I ain't had enough target practice today.
: Now, I've got your brats and you've gotta a lot of lovely money.
: Why don't we trade?
: That's kidnapping, you know.
Silky: Do tell. How much doctor, whatever your name is?
: You can have whatever I've got as long as the boys are alright.
: Oh, what do you take me for?
: A blinkin' pickpocket?
: I don't want peanuts.
: I want money!
: Say, 20,000 pounds of it?
: Sixty thousand dollars?
: Sounds beautiful, don't it?
: Well, speak up, mate?
: I-I, I don't know where I could possible raise that--
: Ah, don't give me that.
: You've got important friends I'll wager.
: Call 'em up on the shortwave, they'll come through.
: And with your connections they'll fly in with the money.
: Now, get crackin'.
: [laughing]
: [whooping]
: [snoring]
: Wow, listen to that!
: How noisy can you get?
: Quiet, Jonny. Look at that!
: [instrumental music]
: What's that?
: Oh, me gun?
: Who stole me ruddy rifle?
: [whooping]
: Call off your friends, mate.
: I-I-I meant no harm.
: Go on, tell them I haven't touched you.
: You tell 'em while your untying us.
: Oh, sure thing, little pal.
: Anything you say.
: We'd better tie him up, Jonny.
: I don't think that'll be necessary, Hadji.
: [whooping]
: [groaning]
: Yes, I believe the boys are safe.
: Yes, I will be greatly in your debt.
: It's extremely urgent to deliver the money immediately.
: Thank you.
: He is willing to put up the other 25,000.
: See, I told you.
: Never mind that.
: Where are the boys?
: Yes, take us to them.
Silky: Uh-uh-uh, easy now.
: First thing's first.
: Any funny business at the airport and you know what'll happen to you.
: There'll be no funny business.
: The money will be flown in for you to pick up.
: Just so as we understand each other, chum.
Jonny: Chopper said their camp was over this way.
Hadji: Too bad hoo-hoo ruined the rifle.
: [whooping]
Jonny: Yeah, we could've used it.
: How long do you intend to keep us tied up here?
: When my partner gets back, I'll leave for the airport.
: And the money.
: Don't be impatient out there.
: Think what a nice sun tan you're getting.
: [laughing]
: Hey, Jonny, I see Race.
: And there is dad.
: And the other guy must be inside the tent.
: Come on, now is our chance.
: I hope they understand.
: We'll find out soon.
: [imitating whooping]
: [whooping]
: [Silky screaming]
Silky: Let me out! Let me out!
: Thank goodness you're safe!
: Great work, boys!
: Well, thanks, but these friends of ours deserve all the credit.
Silky: Let me out! Let me out!
Jonny: Shall we let him out, Race?
: Uh-uh, no.
: Let you friends have their fun.
: [whooping]
: All set?
: Well, let's shove off.
: The commissioner will be happy to see those two.
: They've been wanted a long time.
: Hey, fellas, there's some friends of yours come to say goodbye.
: [whooping]
: [barking]
: So long, fellas!
: Thanks for everything!
: Well, that's not the way to say goodbye.
: Yes, you are right.
