male narrator: "Jonny Quest,"
: brought to you by..
: [instrumental music]
: [dramatic music]
: [cubs whimpering]
: splat thud
: [whooshing]
: whoosh crash
: [dramatic music]
: Excellent, excellent.
: Our deflection calculations worked perfectly.
: Yes, sir.
: Their missile landed intact.
: You have your bearings on the crash point?
: Yes, sir.
: We have it plotted exactly.
: Set your course and proceed at full speed!
: [engine whirring]
: [instrumental music]
: Could we run that videotape again, professor?
: Of course, Dr. Quest.
: Now, notice, doctor, this is the point at which our missile began to veer.
: At the same time, the destruction mechanism failed to activate.
: We lost sight of it completely.
: No matter how many times I run the tape I still don't understand it.
: Neither do I.
: But I'll take a guess.
: It's got to be either a malfunction tampering or an outside force taking over the controls of our missile.
: [buzzing]
: Let's hope we learn the answers after I reach the crash point.
: Dr. Quest, there could be others trying to reach our missile before you.
: That possibility has already occurred to me, professor.
: I'll try to be careful.
: We'll give you air cover when you put to sea.
: Thanks, I'll feel a lot better if you do.
: [engine revving]
: The North Pole? Wow!
: Not quite all the way to the North Pole, Jonny.
Jonny: Near enough.
: I'll bet it'll be cold, too.
: [barking]
: [chuckling]
: That's our Bandit.
: Always thinking ahead.
: [barking]
Hadji: Your teeth are too sharp, little one.
Race: Now, if there was tampering--
: Well, Race, it would explain the failure of the destruction mechanism.
: Which could mean only one thing!
: Whoever they are, they want that missile intact.
: [engine whirring]
: Sir?
: Yes?
: Last bearing puts us due east of target.
: Good. What is ETA?
: 0500, sir.
: Look here.
: This is our position, and here is the missile.
: We will attempt a surface breakthrough...here.
: [alarm blaring]
man on PA: Scramble! Scramble!
: Scramble! IF-2 and IF-3.
: Scramble, scramble!
: [whooshing]
: IF-2 to combat control.
: What course to bogey? Over!
man on radio: Combat control to IF-2.
: No bogey.
: Fly top cover for Quest Arctica Expedition. Over.
: Wilco! IF-2 out!
: [instrumental music]
: Oh, there's nothing to it, Bandit, old boy.
: Just keep your feet together and shush.
: I think the word is schuss, Jonny.
: Oh, shush, schluss! All you got to do is slide. Ready?
: Me, I am ready, but you better ask Bandit.
Jonny: Oh, he's always ready for some fun.
: Alley-oop!
: Catch him, Hadji.
: He is too fast.
Jonny: Oh, no!
: He's going below deck!
: thud Is, uh, this your dog?
: Sorry, captain.
: Oh, come on, Bandit.
: Please say you forgive us.
: Bandit. I do trick, look.
: What is this in your ear?
: Sim-sim-salabim.
: A dog biscuit.
: crunch
Jonny: Good work, Hadji.
: Looks like we're forgiven.
: [dramatic music]
: Captain, message from base.
: Yes?
: "We plan to intercept and destroy the Quest ship."
: Good, continue on course!
: Look, Jonny. Whale.
: [splashing]
Jonny: How'd you like to have that little one home in a fishbowl?
: Yes, king-sized fishbowl.
Race: King-sized is right!
: That little one doesn't weigh more than..
: ...oh, four-five ton.
: That much, Race?
: Yup.
Race: The mother will run from 50-80 tons herself.
: I guess I'll stick to you, Bandit.
: Hey, hey.
: Better get your gear together, boys.
: Are we that close to the missile, dad?
: As close as the ice breaker can bring us, son.
: We transfer to our snow goose first thing in the morning.
: So, that is a snow goose?
: Right, specifically designed and built for Artic use.
: Hey, Hadj, look over there, someone goofed.
: They brought the airplane, but they forgot the wings.
: [chuckling]
: It's not an airplane, Jonny.
: It's a snow skimmer.
: We'll use it for fast trips back to the ship.
: It'll do over a 100 miles an hour.
: That means we don't get to use a dog-sled?
Dr. Quest: Not this trip, son.
: Aw, too bad, Bandit.
: We were gonna put you to work.
: Come on, boy.
: Mush, mush, Bandit, mush!
: I used the right word with him.
: He acts just like a bowl of mush.
: [mellow music]
: [whooshing]
male #1: IF-2 to combat control.
: We are orbiting the Quest ship!
man on radio: Combat control to IF-2.
: Your message received and understood.
: Hold it.
: Radar just picked up a bogey.
: He's at 90,000. Investigate.
: Wilco! IF-2 out!
: IF-3 to IF-2, I see him!
: Bogey at our 11 o'clock!
: No markings.
: Hey, he just let go an air-to-ground missile!
male #1: Let's get that missile first.
: Then the bogey.
male #2: Roger.
: swoosh swoosh boom Right on target!
: Now for the bogey.
: Do you see him, IF-3?
: Yeah, he's at 3 o'clock low.
: Boy, look at him run.
male #1: Let him go.
: We'll resume orbit.
: Radio message from base, sir.
: Orders are, "Stop Quest.
: You are to use all possible means to delay him."
: Prepare torpedo attack!
: [dramatic music]
: There it is.
: Bearing mark.
: Bearing 0-6-5.
: Forward torpedo room ready.
: Fire one.
: Torpedo away.
male #3: On target. No, no!
: boom - A hit, sir?
: Yes, a hit on an iceberg.
: Dive! We will try later.
: What do you suppose that explosion was from, doctor?
: It could've been from an old mine, left over from the war.
: But then again I want armed lookouts posted fore and aft, Race!
: Right, doctor.
: [intense music]
Race: Tomorrow is the big day.
Dr. Quest: I know. I'm anxious to get this job over with.
: Are the guards posted?
: Yes, sir.
: It's pretty spooky out there tonight.
: [music continues]
: [water splashing]
: Get the raft in the water.
: Quietly.
: Yes, sir.
: Ready, sir.
: You know your orders.
: Yes, sir.
: To eliminate Dr. Quest.
: Correct.
: But as quietly as possible.
: If the ship is aroused, we cannot wait for you.
: Understood?
: Yes, sir.
: I understand.
: [splashing]
: [intense music]
: After we unload in the morning, I want the group to stay close together.
: Good idea, doctor.
: I'll double check the supplies.
: And while you're at it look in on the boys, will you, Race?
: Anything else?
: No, I..
: [gunshot]
Race: Guards, port side, quick!
: [gunfire]
: Guard, who was it?
: I don't know, sir.
: It's too dark to see.
: Look at this, Race.
: Whoever it was, has a very deadly calling card.
: Keep a sharp lookout, guard.
: Yes, sir.
: [dramatic music]
: [ticking]
: [barking]
: [music continues]
: [Bandit barking]
: Wonder what Bandit's doing out on deck?
: Here, boy, Bandit.
: [barking]
: Come here, boy.
: Here, boy, here.
: Good boy, Bandit.
: Hey, what have you got there?
: Hold it.
: Hold it!
: Holy mackerel!
: You got a live one!
: boom
: [dramatic music]
: But our man on the raft?
: We can delay no longer.
: [engine whirring]
: We are at missile position, sir.
: Stand by to surface.
: [rumbling]
: Break out the ice gear.
: Landing party, stand by to go ashore.
: Okay, doctor.
: Roll it, we'll be following you.
: Thanks, commander.
: Okay, Race, let's shove off.
: [engine revving]
: Last lap, Race.
: Well, let's hope that destruction mechanism hasn't decided to turn itself on.
Jonny: Hey, look up ahead, dad.
: A walrus!
: I can't go around him.
: Try giving him a nudge, Race.
: Okay.
: What do we do now, dad?
: Well, I'm open to suggestions. Race?
: I take it you don't wanna shoot it.
: I'd rather not.
: It is big.
: [barking]
: How about Bandit chasing him away?
: [chuckling]
: He was just fooling, boy.
: How about trying the bull-horn, doctor?
: Good idea, Race.
: Can I use it, dad?
: Fine with me.
: Go easy on the ear drums.
: Okay, here goes.
: Get off the road, you road hog!
: [snorting]
: It worked. He took off.
: My ears, they're still ringing.
: Hard to decide which is worse, the illness or the cure!
: [instrumental music]
: We're in luck.
: The missile still in one piece.
: There's only one way to work on that missile, doctor.
: A catwalk.
: I think you're right, commander.
: Now, we'll start in about here, and run it right up to the missile hatch.
: The missile is so much bigger when you get close up.
: Almost half of it is under ice.
: [barking]
Jonny: What's the matter, boy?
: Hey, look, in the water.
: A whale!
: [splashing]
: Not just a whale. That's a killer whale. Come on, Jonny.
: I'll show how to run the snow skimmer, while we're waiting.
: Hey, swell!
: Then I'll teach, Hadji.
: Stand behind the snow cart for a minute, Jonny.
: I'll show you how to stop this thing fast.
: That's enough brakes to stop anything.
: Okay, climb aboard.
: Ready?
: Let her go!
: [whirring]
: [engine revving]
: Wow!
: How do you like it, Jonny?
: Boy, nothing can catch this baby.
: [whooshing]
Race: Hang on, I'm hitting the brakes.
: [swooshing]
: Okay, Jonny, you take it back.
: Let's go.
Jonny: Yippee!
Race: Hey, hold it down.
: [dramatic music]
Dr. Quest: A fine job, commander.
: Many thanks.
: We'll maintain air patrol, doctor.
: Good.
: Alright, let's move out, men.
: I'm gonna take a look inside the missile now, Race.
: Good, good.
: Wait until they are inside.
: Then take them.
: Well, that answers that!
: What, doctor?
: Take a look.
: The destruction activator has been cut through.
: So that's how they downed the missile intact.
: Then they could pick up your newest directional system.
male #3: That's precisely why we are here.
: Oh, the villain.
: Hardly villains.
: Really interested neutral observers.
: Who do a little equipment snatching on the side.
: That is our purpose.
: Lock them up.
: And transfer the directional system to the submarine.
: [intense music]
: This will hold them.
: So they came in a submarine, no wonder they weren't spotted.
: Our orders were to pick up the two boys also.
: [Bandit barking]
: The boys would be with the dog.
: Hey, wait, Bandit.
: No, boy.
Hadji: Little bears are not for you to play with.
: [barking]
: boing
: [whimpering]
: [laughing]
: You'll never learn, will you, boy?
: Jonny, look.
Jonny: Oh, boy, a baby seal.
: Let's see if we can catch him.
: [barking]
: Gotcha. Gotcha.
: Don't get upset, I'm not gonna hurt ya.
: Whoop! Hey, let me down.
: Let me down.
: Hey, hey.
: thud That looks like fun.
Jonny: Get me out of here. Come on.
: Let me down.
: Get me out of here.
: You will never learn, will you, Jonny?
: [gasps]
: Hey, Hadji's my friend.
: What do you think you're doin'..
: Quiet, come with us.
: [growling]
: It will be better for that animal if you keep it quiet, too.
: You can't blame him, he knows a couple of skunks when he smells them.
: [whooshing]
: Hey, Jonny that's one of our--
: One of yours, am I right?
: Then wave.
: Go on, wave at the plane.
: Now, you.
: Ah, so I'm waiving.
: I'm waiving.
: Harder and wave as if you were glad to see the plane.
: [droning]
: That's the Quest crew, they're all waving.
: Everything must be okay.
: Right.
: Let's head back to the base.
: They saw us, now, we..
: Hey..
: thud - Run, Hadji, run!
: I'll stop him.
: thud
: [whirring]
: Atta boy, Hadji.
: Go, go, go!
: Calling submarine.
: Calling submarine.
: Boy escaping in snow skimmer.
: Intercept. Repeat, intercept.
: [whirring]
: whoosh
: [swooshing]
: boom
: [whirring]
: Well, it was a nice try anyway, Hadji.
: [intense music]
: Dad, Race!
: Thank heavens!
: You're both safe.
: What's going on, dad?
: Who are they?
: What're they doing here?
: They're after the missile's directional brain, Jonny.
: It looks as if they're gonna get it.
: They'll get it, alright.
: But not what they came for.
: What do you mean, doctor?
: I managed to activate the destruction mechanism before we left the missile.
: Gosh, dad, wi-will it explode?
: In less than three minutes.
: Doctor, they're coming back this way.
: What do you suppose they want?
: If I had to guess, me.
: But why?
: I don't know, Hadji.
: You, come with us.
: Dad, don't go.
: It's alright, son.
: Don't worry.
: But, dad, you'll..
: thud But if he goes back there, he'll be..
: Oh, why didn't he tell 'em it's set to explode, Race?
: You know the answer to that, Jonny.
: He won't tell 'em.
: Not even to save his own life.
: We need your valuable assistance, Dr. Quest.
: You will remove the directional brain for us.
: [grunting]
: Hey, dad's got away from 'em.
: He's headed back across the catwa..
: Oh, no, he slipped.
: He'll never..
: [splashing]
: crash Get Quest!
: Shoot, shoot!
: [gunfire]
: [intense music]
: boom
: [rumbling]
: [hissing]
: Dad's okay, he's coming over.
: But wow, there's nothing lift of that missile but a hole in the ice.
: Well, it's over, doctor.
: Nobody won.
: They didn't get the missile, and neither did we.
: No, but we can start over.
: And this time, we'll build even better directional brain.
: Guess you're right.
: [whirring]
Race: Hey!
Dr. Quest: What was that, Race, a blizzard?
: There's your storm, sir.
: Hey, dad, can we go ahead and meet you back at the ship?
: Alright, but take it easy.
: Right, arrivederci.
: [whirring]
: I wonder if they could get a speeding ticket up here.
: I don't know, but when I get back to the ship they'll get worse than that.
: Yippee!
: Yippee!
: [theme music]
: [clamoring]
: twang twang
: [whooshing]
: crash crash
: [chittering]
: [music continues]
: caw
